The Russian-US summer summit was tough, but was within the framework of diplomatic decorum, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th October, 2018) The Russian-US summer summit was tough, but was within the framework of diplomatic decorum, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
"There was a [post-summit] press conference, where our president said that all questions were raised openly. In this regard, the meeting was really tough, because both presidents spoke directly enough about the irritants in our bilateral relations.
In this regard, yes, it was tough, because problems were honestly called by their Names," Peskov told reporters.
"If we talk about the manner of conversation, whether it went beyond, let's say, the diplomatic decorum - no, it did not, everything was within [these frameworks]," he said.
In an interview with CBS broadcast Sunday night, US President Donald Trump was asked why he did not criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump said that, on the contrary, his meeting with Putin was "very tough."
