The active phase of the Rapid Trident-2018 international military exercises involving practice preparations for a large-scale invasion by a hostile neighboring state began in Ukraine's Lviv region, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
KIEV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th September, 2018) The active phase of the Rapid Trident-2018 international military exercises involving practice preparations for a large-scale invasion by a hostile neighboring state began in Ukraine's Lviv region, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Active field training phase began within the framework of the multinational Ukrainian-US command-staff training with the involvement of the Rapid Trident-2018 troops," the ministry said on Twitter.
In early September, the international military exercise of the ground forces Rapid Trident-2018 started in Lviv region on the territory of the International Peacekeeping and Security Center of the National academy of Land Forces.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, over 2,500 servicemen from Ukraine and 14 foreign states, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Georgia, Turkey, Poland and Germany, are taking part in the joint exercises. The drills, largest ones in Ukraine, have been held annually since 2011.
