Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo over the telephone on Monday that the US intention to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights would lead to a gross violation of the international law, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement
"It was also stressed that the US intention to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights would lead to a gross violation of international law, prevent the settlement of the Syrian crisis, and aggravate the situation in the middle East," the statement said.
The statement also stressed that Lavrov and Pompeo agreed to continue contacts on problematic aspects of bilateral relations between Russia and the United States.
