CHISINAU (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) The Romanian Foreign Ministry said it had created an emergency headquarters to monitor the situation with a group of Romanian schoolchildren currently on exchange in Sri Lanka's capital city of Colombo in the wake of the deadly bombings that killed over 200 people earlier on Sunday.
"Bearing in mind the large number of victims, reported by the local media, the [Romanian] foreign minister has ordered that an emergency headquarters should be created. The attention of the emergency headquarters will be focused on the situation with a group of schoolchildren from a lyceum in the [Romanian] city of Iasi, which is now on exchange in Colombo," the ministry's press service said.
According to the press service, the schoolchildren are safe and should leave Sri Lanka on April 26.
Sri Lankan media reported earlier in the day that 13 people were detained in connection with eight blasts that hit several churches and hotels across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
