Russian oil giant Rosneft has demanded that Italy's La Stampa newspaper retract its article alleging that the company might be involved in funding the EU election campaign of the euroskeptic Lega party, otherwise it intends to defend its rights in court
"The La Stampa article ...
from February 22 claims that Rosneft may be involved in financing the Lega party's European Parliament election campaign. All the information in this article concerning Rosneft is completely untrue and is a lie intended to damage the business reputation of the company," the statement said.
"Rosneft has appealed to La Stampa with a demand to immediately retract the misinformation contained in this article and in case of refusal intends to defend its rights in court," the statement added.
