MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) The government of Yemen is intent on witnessing the fulfillment of the Stockholm agreement with the Houthis before a new round of consultations on Yemen's peace settlement should take place, Hamza Alkamaly, the Yemeni deputy minister for youth and sports, told Sputnik on Tuesday.
UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths told Sputnik on Friday that he hoped to see a new round of peace consultations in February, with a few options where the talks could be held still up for consideration.
"It's going to be in February, but the government is so keen to implement the 2451 resolution and the Stockholm agreements before going to another round," Alkamaly said.
The last round of peace consultations in Sweden in mid-December resulted in the signing of the Stockholm agreement by the government of Yemen and the Houthi rebels. The agreement set out measures for prisoner exchanges, on a ceasefire in Al Hudaydah port, and other humanitarian initiatives.
