Russia-Africa Summit May Be Held in Late 2019 - Russia-Uganda Working Group Chair

The first Russia-Africa summit may take place at the end of 2019, Andrey Rashin, co-chair of the Russia-Uganda Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and CEO of the Northern Mines company, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

KAMPALA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) The first Russia-Africa summit may take place at the end of 2019, Andrey Rashin, co-chair of the Russia-Uganda Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and CEO of the Northern Mines company, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"I have information that the summit will probably be held at the end of next year.

But where it will be held is still unknown ... For us, it is the start of hard work, because we need to do it as quickly as possible, because we are not alone here [in Africa]," he said.

Rashin added that this summit would give impetus to cooperation between businesses of Russia and Africa.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was working on the possibility to hold a Russian-African summit with the participation of the heads of African countries.
