BEIJING (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2021 ) :Representatives of Russia, China, United States and Pakistan have exchanged opinions on advancing the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan in a meeting held in Doha, Qatar, Chinese Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Thursday.
"On April 30, representatives of the four countries held a meeting on the Afghan issue in Doha and we exchanged opinions on advancing the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan," he said during his regular briefing which resumed after Labour Day holidays.
"We all believe that reaching a political settlement, resolution through negotiation is the only right way for Afghanistan to realise lasting peace and foreign troops should withdraw from Afghanistan in a responsible manner to ensure a peaceful and stable transition in the country," he added.
The spokesperson called on all parties to reach an agreement at an early date and to realise the full ceasefire and establish an inclusive government.
"We believe the peace and reconciliation process is now at a crucial historical stage and unless we make progress, we will go backwards," he said.
Wang remarked that it was the shared aspiration of the international community to reach peace as soon as possible and the four parties should work harder to form synergy and play constructive role in promoting peace talks in Afghanistan.
According to reports, China, Russia, USA and Pakistan had a discussion on Afghanistan's internal negotiation on April 30. They also issued a joint statement.
