MURMANSK (Russia) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) The Norwegian intelligence services suspect Russian citizen Mikhail Bochkarev, who was recently detained in Oslo, of having gathered data via wireless networks, Bochkarev's lawyer Bendik Falk-Kuslung said on Tuesday.

Bochkarev, 51, a staff employee of the Russian upper house of parliament, was detained at the Gardermoen airport outside Oslo on Friday following his participation in an IT conference in Norway's parliament, arranged by the European Centre for Parliamentary Research and Documentation (ECPRD).

"The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) suspects [Bochkarev] of gathering data via wireless signals and networks in the Storting building [Norwegian parliament]. He refutes [the accusations]," Falk-Kuslung told the VG newspaper.

The detainee is reportedly suspected of having connected to the parliament's printers, which can store printed documents for years.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Norway's Ambassador to Russia Rune Resaland to lodge a protest in connection with Bochkarev's detention.
