Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah on Monday praised Russia's efforts aimed at helping resolve the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah on Monday praised Russia's efforts aimed at helping resolve the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"We will discuss today issues concerning the middle East, specifically the Arab-Israeli, Palestinian-Israeli conflict. We think Russia is a state that helps promote finding a resolution to these problems," bin Alawi said ahead of his talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
Russia has been participating as a mediator in the talks between Israel and Palestine as part of the so-called Middle East Quartet, which also includes the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.
Direct talks on the settlement of the conflict between the parties collapsed in 2014. The Palestinian authorities have, however, said they were ready for direct talks with Israel with Russia's mediation.
Russia has also repeatedly offered the leaders of the conflicting sides to use Moscow as a venue for direct negotiations.
