MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) Russian market is very important for Finnish companies, Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini said on Tuesday after the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Russia is an important market for Finnish companies. And at the moment the trade turnover is in favor of Russia," Soini said at press conference.
The minister added that the number of border crossings remained at the level of the previous year and amounted to about 9 million.
"We in Finland are always very glad to [see] Russian tourists.
And border cooperation is carried out successfully," Soini said.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said in October that the Russian-Finnish trade, which has been increasing for the second year in a row, will reach the pre-crisis level in 2019.
The Russia-Finland trade amounted to $14.75 billion in 2018 compared to $12.36 billion in 2017. Russian exports to Finland stood at $11.37 billion, while imports amounted to $3.38 billion.
