Russia is in constant contact with the Venezuelan authorities, Aleksander Shchetinin, head of the Department of Latin America at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Monday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) Russia is in constant contact with the Venezuelan authorities, Aleksander Shchetinin, head of the Department of Latin America at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Monday.

"We are in constant contact with the government of Venezuela in a completely working, normal mode," Shchetinin told reporters in response to a relevant question.

He said Venezuela had not asked Russia for military assistance and added that US contacts with Venezuela's military leaders to make them change their mind and refuse to support Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was unacceptable.
