Russia-Iran Intergovernmental Commission Meeting Slated For Nov-Dec In Tehran - Official

The next meeting of the Russia-Iran intergovernmental commission is expected to take place in November-December in Tehran, it may address the issue of opening a trade route connecting Iran with Crimea via the Volga-Don Canal, Russia-Iran Business Council Chairman Vladimir Obydennov told Sputnik.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) The next meeting of the Russia-Iran intergovernmental commission is expected to take place in November-December in Tehran, it may address the issue of opening a trade route connecting Iran with Crimea via the Volga-Don Canal, Russia-Iran Business Council Chairman Vladimir Obydennov told Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, Russian media reported citing Georgy Muradov, Crimea's permanent representative under the Russian president, that Iranian businessmen had expressed interest in exploring a trade route connecting Iran with Crimea through the Caspian Sea.
"We are planning to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, probably, in November-December this year in Tehran, it will address the issue of this route," Obydennov said.
The official confirmed that the business council had received appeals from the Iranian side regarding the Iran-Crimea trade route.
"We have already considered this alternative route," Obydennov said.
