Kabul believes that the cooperation between Russia and regional countries and the regional consensus should contribute to the fight against terrorism and help end war in Afghanistan, Mohammad Alam Izadyar, the first deputy chairman of the Afghan upper house, said on Monday.
"We believe that cooperation between Russia and regional countries should play its role. We have repeatedly said that regional integration and regional consensus can put an end to terrorism and continuing war in Afghanistan. We once again reiterate, regional consensus, not negative competition, may serve to stop the fratricidal war and end instability in the whole region," Izadyar said at the international conference "The role of parliaments in modern world" commemorating the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Russian upper house.
The first deputy speaker of the House of Elders stressed that terrorism was "not only a threat to Afghanistan, but a threat to other countries of the world."
"Terrorism is like a snake, it is a poison that can destroy everyone, and it is necessary to fight it together," Izadyar stressed.
For years, Afghanistan has been struggling to overcome the conflict between the Taliban and the government, exacerbated by the activities of several terrorist groups in the country. In November, the talks on Afghan reconciliation that brought together the Taliban movement and Afghanistan's High Peace Council were held in Moscow.
