Russia Registers 10 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 10 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 25 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said on Monday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th March, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 10 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 25 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said on Monday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 10 cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib (4), Aleppo (2), Hama (2), Latakia (2). The Turkish side has registered 25 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Hama (24), Idlib (1)," the center said in its daily bulletin.

Over the given period, the center carried out one humanitarian operation in the settlement of al-Baida in Hama, distributing 500 food sets, with a total weight of over 2 tonnes, to local residents.

The center also reported that over the given period, no new ceasefire agreements had been signed. The number of areas that have signed reconciliation agreements did not change, standing at 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they continued to observe the ceasefire also remained the same 234.

Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia also assists Damascus in the postwar reconstruction of the country and the repatriation of refugees and makes efforts to help ensure the settlement of the conflict in Syria at various international platforms.
