Russia Registers 16 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 16 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 38 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides said on Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 16 ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 38 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides said on Thursday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 16 cases of firing in the provinces of Hama (8), Latakia (5), Aleppo (2), Idlib (1). The Turkish side has registered 38 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Aleppo (18), Latakia (9), Idlib (6), and Hama (5)," the ministry said in a bulletin.

Over the past 24 hours, the ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring carried out a humanitarian action in Hama province, distributing 500 food sets to local residents.

The center stressed that over the given period, no new ceasefire agreements have been signed. The number of areas that have signed reconciliation agreements did not change, standing at 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire similarly remained the same 234.

Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia also assists Damascus in the postwar reconstruction of the country and the repatriation of refugees, and makes efforts to help ensure the settlement of the conflict in Syria at various international platforms.
