Russia Registers 19 Ceasefire Violations In Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th December, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 19 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 13 ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 19 cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib (6), Hama (3), Latakia (7) and Aleppo (3). The Turkish side has registered 13 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Hama (4), Latakia (4) and Idlib (5)," the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said in its daily bulletin.
The reconciliation center has also held one humanitarian action in Deir ez-Zor province, with local residents having received 500 food sets with a total weight of over 2.1 tonnes.
The ministry added that no new ceasefire agreements had been signed within last 24 hours. Thus, the number of settlements that have joined the ceasefire regime remained unchanged, amounting to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming to observe the ceasefire regime is 234.
Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is the guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow is also supporting the government forces' fight against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
