Russia Registers 8 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered eight truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered five ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th November, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered eight truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered five ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered eight cases of firing in the provinces of Aleppo (5), Latakia (3). The Turkish side has registered five cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Hama (4) and Aleppo (1)," the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said in its daily bulletin.

The reconciliation center has also held a humanitarian action in the settlement of Al-Gasbiyah, Homs province, with local residents having received 50 food sets with a total weight of 1.95 tonnes.

The ministry added that no new ceasefire agreements had been signed within last 24 hours. Thus, the number of settlements that have joined the ceasefire regime remained unchanged, amounting to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming to observe the ceasefire regime is 234.

Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is the guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow is also supporting the government forces' fight against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
