ABU DHABI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Russia and Saudi Arabia will sign a contract on joint production of AK-103 assault rifles by the end of February, CEO of the Rostec state corporation Sergey Chemezov said Monday.
During Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's visit to Russia last fall, Russia's Rosoboronexport state arms exporter and the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) had agreed to organize licensed production of Kalashnikov AK-103 assault rifles and ammunition for them in Saudi Arabia.
"[The contract] will be signed by the end of the month... They want a very high localization, up to 90 percent. We prefer a bit lower, so the discussions are underway," the official said at the IDEX-2019 expo.
