Russia does not plan to launch military satellites using Proton carrier rockets and instead will carry out the launches with Soyuz and Angara carriers, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said on Wednesday.
IRKUTSK (Russia) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Russia does not plan to launch military satellites using Proton carrier rockets and instead will carry out the launches with Soyuz and Angara carriers, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said on Wednesday.
"Many question the necessity of Angara.
It is the main carrier of the Armed Forces. All launches under the current state arms program are planned either on the Soyuz, or on the Angara-1.2 and Angara-A5," Borisov said.
In late August, Director General of Russia's State Space Corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said that Moscow will stop using Proton carrier rockets in 2025, and the rockets' production would be halted in 2020-2021.
