Russia To Build Lunar Landing Training Facility With Simulated Gravity - Official

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) Russia's Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center is planning to build a lunar landing simulator capable of imitating lunar gravity, the center's head, Pavel Vlasov told Sputnik.

"The center received a design concept of a simulator, which will be capable of imitating lunar gravity and weightlessness, and at the same time will allow an astronaut to work on a large area.

The simulator is due to be installed in a facility with an imitation of the lunar surface," he said.

Earlier, Vlasov said that the center received a helicopter to train astronauts to land on the Moon and Mars. The training is due to start this year.

Established in the name of the first person to fly in space, Yuri Gagarin, the center is responsible for training cosmonauts for their space missions.
