Russia To Complete State Tests Of Pantsir-SM Air Defense System In 2021 - Source

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 04th June, 2019) State tests of Russia's latest Pantsir-SM missile-gun air defense system will be completed in 2021, a defense industry source told Sputnik.

"The state trials of the Pantsir-SM air defense system are planned to be completed in two years," the source said.

According to the source, the new system will be armed will a missile with more than doubled flight speed (3,000 meters per second against 1,300 meters per second of the 57E6E missile of the Pantsir-S1 [SA-22 Greyhound] system).

A distinctive feature of the Pantsir-SM is a new multi-functional targeting station with a phased antenna array, which allows its radar to detect targets at a range of up to 75 kilometers (45 miles) and increases its effective targeting range to 40 kilometers, twice as much as that of the Pantsir-S1 system.
