Russia will not change its policy despite the new US sanctions and will continue to cooperate with other countries according to its own choice, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st May, 2019) Russia will not change its policy despite the new US sanctions and will continue to cooperate with other countries according to its own choice, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the United States seems to try to void the positive spirit of the recent visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Russia with fresh sanctions.

"[The United States] tries to formally accuse Russia of violating the US law that prohibits defense industry cooperation with Iran, North Korea and Syria, which has nothing with Russia .

.. Of course, Russia will not change its policy. Moscow will continue to firmly protect international law, fight terrorism and cooperate with other countries, according to its choice, whether the United States likes that or not," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, the United States imposed sanctions on three Russian companies over their alleged proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to Iran, Syria and North Korea.
