MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th February, 2019) Three genetics research centers will be founded in Russia under a Federal program to study and apply gene technologies, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said Wednesday.

"As part of this program, we plan to found three genetics centers of international excellence with a hefty 12.

2 billion rubles [$186 million] in funding, nearly 90 percent of it will be sourced from the federal budget," she said.

Golikova spoke at a press briefing after a meeting on Tuesday of the council in charge of the federal genetics program.

She said it laid out four priorities: biosecurity, bioindependence, the use of gene technologies in medicine and agriculture, and in industrial microbiology.
