Russia Urges Europe to Drop 'Artificial' Conditions for Launching INSTEX - Ryabkov

Moscow believes that Europe is imposing unnecessary conditions on Tehran to launch INSTEX, the mechanism of conducting transactions with Iran bypassing US sanctions, and calls for its EU partners to drop counterproductive demands, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Rabkov said Monday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) Moscow believes that Europe is imposing unnecessary conditions on Tehran to launch INSTEX, the mechanism of conducting transactions with Iran bypassing US sanctions, and calls for its EU partners to drop counterproductive demands, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Rabkov said Monday.

"There are calls, if not to say demands, toward Iran to set up an analogous mechanism. We believe that such multiplying artificial conditions is counterproductive," Ryabkov told reporters.

"It is necessary to start these transactions in practice, without limiting them to food supplies, basic necessities, and medicines, which are already exempted from US sanctions at least at this stage," Ryabkov added.
