MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Moscow will continue to support Venezuela that remains Russia's strategic partner and protect Caracas' sovereignty amid US attempts to increase pressure on the Latin American state, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Thursday.
"As we see how the situation in Venezuela develops, we note the willingness of a certain group of countries, including the United States, to use different platforms such as the Organization of American States, to increase pressure on our ally Venezuela under different pretexts.
.. But we have always supported and will support friendly Venezuela that is our strategic partner," Ryabkov told the Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn (International Life) review.
"We will stand, if you please, in the same row with this country on the guard of sovereignty and inadmissibility of encroaching on the principle of non-interference in internal affairs. Material and practical cooperation between Russia and Venezuela will continue in various fields. We are not at all inclined to curtail it," the diplomat added.
