VLADIVOSTOK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora arrived on Monday to the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok, ahead of the possible visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a source, familiar with the situation, told Sputnik.
"Alexander Matsegora has arrived in Vladivostok together with his spouse," the source said.
Sputnik has not received any official comment from the Russian Foreign Ministry's office in Vladivostok yet. The North Korean Consulate General in Vladivostok has said that it is unaware of Matsegora's arrival to the city.
According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kim will have a meeting in Russia before the end of the month.
Meanwhile, the South Korean news agency Yonhap has suggested that the talks are most likely to be held in Vladivostok. An employee of a Vladivostok's train station told Sputnik last Thursday that North Korean official Kim Chang Son, known as a "butler" of the North Korean leader, had been examining security measures at the station.
A knowledgeable source told Sputnik last week that the meeting between Putin and Kim could be held in the Far Eastern Federal University, located in Vladivostok. It was revealed on Monday that security measures had been enhanced on the territory of the university.
