YEKATERINBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) The environmental department of the Russian Armed Forces' Central Military District will remove 800 tonnes of rubbish from the Arctic in 2019, the district said in a statement on Friday, adding that the operation would start in June.
"The environmental troops of the Central Military District will remove from the Arctic 800 tonnes of rubbish in 2019.
Operations on environment damage liquidation will be carried out in the Krasnoyarsk Region's Norilsk � in the Alykel Airport [located 21.7 miles west of Norilsk] and in the city itself," the statement read.
The environmental troops, comprised of up to 30 people, will start the operation in early June. Il-76 airliners will carry the servicemen and ten units of engineering and automobile equipment to the Norilsk Airport, the Central Military District specified. The equipment will include graders, cranes and a compactor.
