Russian Delegation Arrives In Syria To Sign Cooperation Deal Between Sevastopol, Tartus

A Russian delegation headed by Dmitry Sablin, the head of the Russian State Duma's group on relations with the Syrian parliament, has arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus to sign a cooperation deal between the southern Russian city of Sevastopol and the western Syrian province of Tartus, and also to hold a meeting with the country's president, Bashar Assad, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Monday
DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th January, 2019) A Russian delegation headed by Dmitry Sablin, the head of the Russian State Duma's group on relations with the Syrian parliament, has arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus to sign a cooperation deal between the southern Russian city of Sevastopol and the western Syrian province of Tartus, and also to hold a meeting with the country's president, Bashar Assad, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Monday.
"The main aim of the visit is to sign an agreement on cooperation between the hero city of Sevastopol and the Tartus province. This is the main issue. We will also discuss all our plans related to interparliamentary cooperation and various investment projects .
.. After a range of meetings in Damascus, we will head for Tartus province," Sablin said.
The delegation is also set to meet with Assad, the Syrian transport minister, the governor of Tartus, the secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, and Patriarch John X.
Sablin added that the delegation was going to discuss further steps toward political settlement in Syria, including the constitutional committee creation, and also share its experience of civic society creation with Syrian parliamentarians.
