Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Assad Discuss Russia's Assistance in Syrian Reconstruction

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov met on Saturday with Syrian President Bashar Assad and discussed the issue of Russia's assistance in Syrian post-war reconstruction.

DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th April, 2019) Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov met on Saturday with Syrian President Bashar Assad and discussed the issue of Russia's assistance in Syrian post-war reconstruction.

Borisov, who is also a co-chairman of the Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission, is currently on his working visit to Syria.

"I bring you warm greetings from Moscow. After our December meeting, we have been acting within the framework of the agreements reached and have not yet seen any disruption of the planned activities. I am convinced that all our efforts to restore the economy of Syria will be successful," Borisov said at the meeting.

Assad, in turn, said that during Borisov's visit the parties would discuss some aspects of the December agreements and expressed hope that all of them would be implemented.

In December, during a meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the countries signed a number of commercial agreements in the field of exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Syria. The ministries of industry and trade of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding. Moreover, a framework agreement and an agreement in the field of housing and public works were concluded.
