MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st November, 2018) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Badri discussed on Wednesday the ways to settle crises in Syria, Libya and Yemen, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Badri is currently on a visit to Moscow to attend events celebrating 200 years since the establishment of the Oriental Studies Institute at the Russian academy of Sciences. According to the statement, Bogdanov and Badri have discussed the pressing issues of further development of Russian-Egyptian relations, namely, the enhancement of their foreign policy cooperation in compliance with agreements reached during Egyptian president's visit to Russia in mid-October.

"There has also been an exhaustive exchange of opinions on ways to settle the crisis situations existing in the middle East and North Africa, namely, in Syria, Libya and Yemen," the statement read.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi came for a working visit to Russia on October 15-17. On October 17, he held a narrow format meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Russian resort city of Sochi. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed trade, bilateral defense cooperation and resumption of Russia-Egypt direct air services, while they also tackled the crisis settlement in the Middle East, with Putin briefing Egypt on efforts taken toward settlement of the Syrian conflict. Putin also said following talks that Moscow and Cairo would continue looking for ways to overcome the division of Libya.
