The Russian embassy in the United States said on Friday that it has lowered the Russian flag at half-staff in commemoration of the shooting victims in Thousand Oaks, California.

"The flag at the Russian Embassy in Washington, DC is flying at half-staff in respect for the victims of the shocking act of violence in Thousand Oaks," the Russian embassy said.

On Wednesday night, a man whom the authorities identified as Marine veteran Ian Long, killed 12 people at the Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks.

A Russian embassy spokesperson told Sputnik that the flag will fly at half-staff until November 10.
