Russia's Embassy in London is concerned about the militaristic tone of UK Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson's speech, a spokesperson for the diplomatic mission told Sputnik on Monday
Earlier in the day, Williamson said: "Brexit has brought us to a moment. A great moment in our history. A moment when we must strengthen our global presence, enhance our lethality, and increase our mass.
"
"The general militaristic tone of the defense secretary's speech can't but cause concern. It is noteworthy that the intentions to demonstrate force, increase the lethality of the armed forces are not linked to the tasks to ensure UK security. It is about relying on military force when promoting British interests in the world," the spokesperson said.
He said Williamson, when trying to show Russia as an aggressor, sought a defense budget increase.
