MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 27th May, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that he had discussed earlier in the day with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, the situation in Venezuela and Washington's attempts to reformat Latin America in the spirit of the Monroe Doctrine.
"We exchanged views on a broad range of bilateral and international matters, as well as on integration processes in Latin America and the Caribbean countries, including in the context of the situation in Venezuela," Lavrov said.
The Russian foreign minister added that he had discussed with Parrilla "Washington's attempts to reformat the region in its interests in the spirit of the revived Monroe Doctrine."
"Obviously, we do not accept such approaches and we will firmly defend regulations and principles of the UN Charter," Lavrov stressed.
