MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th December, 2018) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday will meet with parliament speaker Aguila Saleh from the eastern Libyan government, who is on a working visit in Moscow.
Libya has been in turmoil since a NATO-led invasion overthrew its longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, leading to a devastating civil war.
Seven years on, the North African country remains split between two rival camps in the capital of Tripoli and in the eastern city of Tobruk, the seat of the parliament.
The Libyan army does not recognize Tripoli-based Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj and regards Saleh as its commander-in-chief, the army spokesman, Ahmed Mismari told Sputnik last month.
