Issues concerning the United Kingdom's divorce with the European Union is the UK's internal matter, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"We have already said numerous times that Brexit is Britain's internal matter as well as the matter of bilateral UK-EU relations," Zakharova said at a press briefing.

The UK cabinet confirmed on Tuesday that the United Kingdom and the European Union had agreed a draft Brexit text. Earlier on Thursday, UK Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab said he was resigning over his disagreement with the divorce deal.

The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in a referendum in June 2016 and is expected to do so by late March 2019.
