Russian Foreign Ministry Says Each Country Can Provide Defense Industry Aid to Partners

Moscow believes that there is nothing extraordinary in the decision to supply Russian S-300 air defense systems to Syria as each country has a right to provide defense industry assistance to its partners, Vladimir Ermakov, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Moscow believes that there is nothing extraordinary in the decision to supply Russian S-300 air defense systems to Syria as each country has a right to provide defense industry assistance to its partners, Vladimir Ermakov, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control, said on Tuesday.

"This is an inalienable right of any state to provide defense industry assistance to its partners," Ermakov said.

He also noted that the decision to supply the air defense systems to Syria had been made a long time ago.

"At a certain stage, our other partners asked us not to do it, they gave their arguments, we took them into consideration. Now the situation has developed in such a way that the arguments do not work any more," he added.
