Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Says Venezuela Made Target For US Aggression

Venezuela has been bullied by the United States, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
"This country has become a target of US aggression in every sense of the word," Maria Zakharova told reporters at a briefing.
She said Russia had repeatedly proved that the US campaign against the South American nation had nothing to do with Washington's stated goal of protecting human rights and assisting democracy.
"It is simply hurting the people of Venezuela and, most importantly, slows down its development ... I don't think Venezuela ever asked for US help in its domestic affairs," she added.
Zakharova said the same attitude could be observed toward other countries south of US border. She said Washington showed complete disregard of their sovereignty and did not treat them as equal partners.
