Russian, German Top Diplomats Discuss Nord Stream 2 Construction In Helsinki - Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting on Friday with his German counterpart, Heiko Mass, in Helsinki to discuss the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and the crisis in the Council of Europe, among other issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th May, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting on Friday with his German counterpart, Heiko Mass, in Helsinki to discuss the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and the crisis in the Council of Europe, among other issues, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a session of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers.

"[The two ministers] touched upon certain aspects of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline construction in the context of the new Gas Directive adopted by the European Union," the ministry said.

Lavrov and Mass also discussed the possible ways of resolving crisis within the Council of Europe� and addressed such international issues as the situation in Ukraine, Venezuela and the launch of political process in Syria, the ministry added.
