MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th March, 2019) Konstantin Kosachev, the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the upper house of the Russian parliament, said on Monday, commenting on the results of a two-year investigation by US special counsel Robert Mueller into alleged collusion between US President Donald Trump and Moscow, that there was a chance to "reset" many aspects of US-Russian relations.
A summary of Mueller's investigation, released on Sunday, said that no proof that Trump had coordinated with Russia during the 2016 presidential election was found.
"There is a chance to reset many things in our relations, but whether Trump will take this risk remains unclear.
We are certainly ready. And I would suggest to start with the most acute issues: INF [Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty] and New START [Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty]," Kosachev wrote on Facebook.
Mueller had carried out his investigation into suspected collusion between Russian officials and Trump's associates, denied both by Moscow and by Washington, as well as into Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 US presidential election since 2017. According to the four-page summary of Mueller's main conclusions, he said that Russia had tried to interfere in the 2016 election, a claim Russia has repeatedly refuted, but that no evidence of collusion was found.
