Russian Military Says Registered Ceasefire Violations In Syria's Latakia, Aleppo City

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th January, 2019) Militants shelled a settlement in Syria's Latakia province and a research and development center in the city of Aleppo over the past 24 hours, the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation said in a statement on Sunday.

"Over the past day they [militants] attacked settlement Safsafa in Latakia province, and R&D [research and development] Center of Aleppo," the statement read.

The reconciliation center has reiterated its call on the militants to join the ceasefire regime and contribute to the conflict settlement in the areas they control.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups and terrorist organizations. Russia along with Turkey and Iran are guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
