Russia's Deputy Minister of Culture Alla Manilova confirmed on Thursday that the Russian Seasons, an international festival of Russian culture, will be officially held in France next year
In January, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told Sputnik that France was willing to host Russian Seasons in 2020, but noted that relevant negotiations were still ongoing.
"All approvals have been received, we have official information, you can be guided by it, the decision has been made ... As for France, it is clear that there were no discussions regarding France, because the Russian Seasons were born in France, and it would be strange if we were to expand the geography of the seasons and bypass France," Manilova told reporters on the sidelines of the forum for promoting Russian cultural heritage in Berlin.
The Russian Seasons festival was held for the first time in 2017 in Japan. Over 20 organizations participated in events that were organized in 40 Japanese cities. Last year, it was held in 75 Italian cities. Millions of people attended the previous festival. Currently the event is held in Germany.
Russia and France have been enjoying fruitful cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In 2016-2017, the two countries had cross-year of cultural tourism, which was rich in exchanges of exhibitions.
