Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev received an invitation to take part in the Munich Security Conference, but at that time he is scheduled to take part in the Sochi Investment Forum, his spokesman Oleg Osipov told Sputnik on Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev received an invitation to take part in the Munich Security Conference, but at that time he is scheduled to take part in the Sochi Investment Forum, his spokesman Oleg Osipov told Sputnik on Thursday.

The 55th Munich Security Conference will be held on February 15-17.

"There was an invitation, but there is no [trip] scheduled, since the prime minister is scheduled to participate in the Russian investment forum in Sochi, and these are the coinciding events," Osipov said.

Founded in 1963, the Munich Security Conference is an annual forum that discusses security issues. The event brings together officials and decision-makers from around the world, as well as non-governmental organizations, industry, media and academic representatives.

Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) Wolfgang Ischinger told Sputnik on Wednesday he hoped for participation of the Russian leadership in the event. Ischinger said he had a conversation with Medvedev, having invited the Russian prime minister to Munich.
