Russian Prime Minister Medvedev Arrives In Tajikistan To Take Part In SCO Session

DUSHANBE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Tajikistan late on Thursday to participate in the upcoming session of the Heads of Government Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
At the airport, Medvedev was met by Tajikistani Economic Development Minister Negmatullo Hikmatullozoda.
The SCO heads of governments on Friday will first hold a meeting in a narrow, and then in an expanded format. The development of the new program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation, focused on innovations, high technologies and the digital economy will be discussed.
The work of the SCO business Council and the Interbank Association of the SCO are on the agenda of the session too alongside the approval of the budget for 2019.
SCO, established in 2001, comprises China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as permanent members, while Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia hold observer status. The SCO states cooperate on a number of issues, including economy, security, culture and science.
