Russian Servicemen Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Syrian Province of Hama - Defense Ministry

Russian servicemen delivered humanitarian aid to the town of Ayn al Kurum and the settlement of Toumine in the Syrian province of Hama, a representative of the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation said on Saturday

AYN AL KURUM (Syria) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 16th February, 2019) Russian servicemen delivered humanitarian aid to the town of Ayn al Kurum and the settlement of Toumine in the Syrian province of Hama, a representative of the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation said on Saturday.

"The Center for Syrian reconciliation is regularly monitoring the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic to determine the settlements, which are in dire need of humanitarian aid. Today the aid was primarily delivered to the families of killed [Syrian] servicemen," the representative said.

He pointed out that the Russian servicemen had delivered 500 food kits with a total weight of more than 2 tonnes to each of the two settlements.

The deputy governor of the Hama province expressed gratitude to Russia for the delivered aid.

"We have a lot of poor people and many people, who suffered from militants' activities, in each settlement. And we sincerely say: 'Thank you, Russia, for aid,'" he said.

Russia, alongside Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow is also assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups operating in the country and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
