Fifteen Russian servicemen killed in the Il-20 crash in Syria have been recommended for the Order of Courage posthumously, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Fifteen Russian servicemen killed in the Il-20 crash in Syria have been recommended for the Order of Courage posthumously, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

"Fifteen Russian servicemen killed on September 17 in the crash of the Russian Aerospace Forces' Il-20, for selflessness, courage and valor shown in the performance of combat missions in the Syrian Arab Republic, have been recommended by the command for decoration with the Order of Courage posthumously," it said.

The ministry said the necessary assistance and support are being provided to the families of the killed servicemen.
