SAN FRANCISCO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) Russian shipping company Sovcomflot thinks that the common sense with regards to the US plans to impose sanctions against Russia will prevail, Sovcomflot's Vice President Nikolay Kolesnikov told reporters on Monday.
"Therefore, there is no simple answer to the question, but we, being pragmatic people, think that common sense will prevail, and the current spiral of political escalation would be replaced by some kind of stabilization of relations," Kolesnikov said.
He noted that as of now the company is not subject to any sanctions, and is conducting business very carefully taking into account its international activity.
"Our vessels works worldwide, and enter the ports of the United States, particularly, almost every day," Kolesnikov added.
The United States imposed the latest sanctions on Russia on August 27 over its alleged use of chemical weapons in the March poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK city of Salisbury. Moscow has strongly denied all the accusations, pointing to the lack of evidence. The second round of sanctions is expected to roll out in November, and may include scaled back diplomatic relations and an almost complete cessation of US exports.
