The Russian upper house passed on Monday the bill on sustainability of the Russian segment of the Internet in case the country gets disconnected from the global network

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) The Russian upper house passed on Monday the bill on sustainability of the Russian segment of the internet in case the country gets disconnected from the global network.

The law provides for the creation of a Russian government entity to ensure the operation of Internet and communications networks in the country in case of any extraordinary situations.

The bill was introduced to parliament by a group of lawmakers in December 2018 in response to the "aggressive" US National Cyber Strategy.
