On March 12, Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko held a meeting with US Ambassador to Moscow Jon Huntsman and discussed Moscow-Washington relations and ways to normalize them. Matviyenko later said that exchanges of parliamentary delegations between Moscow and Washington were impossible in the present circumstances due to Russophobic sentiments in the United States.

According to her, Russia is ready to resume parliamentary contacts with the United States at different levels and is not ruling out inter-parliamentary meetings at international platforms.

"I can assume that such a meeting may take place at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly session in Luxembourg in July," Kosachev told reporters.

According to Kosachev, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is the main structure, where Russia and US lawmakers are working together on an equal basis.
