Russia's Bogdanov, Lebanese Acting Prime Minister Hariri Discuss Lebanese Gov't Formation

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Acting Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in a phone conversation discussed the situation in the Lebanese Republic and the task of forming a new government in Lebanon, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
"During the conversation, the current situation in Lebanon and around it was discussed, including the objective of promptly forming of a new Lebanese government following the results of the general elections held in the country in May," the ministry said in a statement.
Lebanon's latest political crisis began after May's parliamentary elections.
After the elections, the entire Lebanese cabinet resigned but has continued to operate in a caretaker capacity. Lebanese President Michel Aoun has asked caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri to form a new government.
To date, the leading parties from several denominations are trying to agree on the distribution of 30 ministerial portfolios among themselves, considering that 10 ministers may prevent the adoption of any law. Accordingly, the opposing political forces are trying to prevent the majority of rivals in the government.
